Casa da Figueira is a charming one bedroom cottage ideally located in the Ria Formosa nature reserve and within walking distance of beautiful beaches and the authentic small fishing village of Santa Luzia. Within its compact interior and its walled terrace garden you will find quality décor, plenty of comfort and privacy.
This lovely L-shaped cottage is set within 530m2 of grounds with a pool surrounded by a terraced seating area and plenty of shaded parking under some ornamental and fruit trees.
The cosy 70m2 interior has been lovingly furnished and decorated, it offers a modern fully fitted kitchen and is well-acclimatised for all seasons.
The open plan living and dining room has a small mezzanine above it with single sofa bed. Velux sky lights and a wood burning fire enhance the country atmosphere. Leading off from this main room is the kitchen, bathroom and a spacious double bedroom.
The pool is 4 x 4m with a depth of 1.5m. A small metal step ladder is mounted on the inside edge. Freshwater pool with Chlorine cleaning system. The pool is serviced twice weekly during summer and once weekly during the rest of the year by a competent and reliable professional. Pool and garden lighting is available.
Four sun loungers deck the terrace around the pool and there are sun umbrellas, a large table and chairs available. The ornamental trees close to the house also provide good shade.
Although the mezzanine has a single sofa bed, the access by wooden ladder is not ideal for young children or larger grown-ups, so we would not recommend it be used.
We can provide a cot and high chair on request. Please let us know if you have any other requirements.
Casa Figueira is suitable for elderly who have access to a car, due to the nature of the terrain in the vicinity.
The property is not at all over looked and the nearest resident neighbours are 250 metres away.

Santa Luzia can be reached in 10 minutes by foot and hosts a very good choice of restaurants, specializing in fresh fish, octopus and shell fish. There are many riverside cafés, a bank, pharmacy and local grocery shops and butchers. You can also buy the fish of the last nights’ catch, though in Tavira, 2km away, there is a wider choice in the daily market.
Being set within a nature reserve and so close to beautiful beaches, tidal rivers and dry meadowland, this area is a very quiet and natural environment.
Amenities are reached by foot between 10 – 15 minute on unmade country lanes, part of the Ecovia bicycle and pedestrian route. The property is set off the lane and has its own gated entrance and a small private driveway alongside it.
Barril beach and Terra Estreita are the nearest beaches being less than 2 km away. However, both are part of a 12km beach island which is accessed by crossing the estuary either by footbridge and footpath or by miniature train at Pedras D’el Rei or by a seasonal small ferry boat service running from Santa Luzia. Each of these routes is a very pleasant and healthy journey to some of the finest beaches in the area.
There are excellent golf courses within 8 to 10 minutes drive from the accommodation. The closest are Benamor, Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima, Monte Rei.
A car is not at all essential for this property, it is quite ideal terrain for cycling and walking. However, for reaching all the beautiful and interesting places further afield a car is recommended as public transport is not very frequent or accessible. Car rental, taxi transfers and bicycle hire can be organized with local reputable firms in advance or by calling the local representative.

Casa da Figueira is available for longer winter lets, please enquire for pricing accordingly. During winter rentals electricity is charged locally by meter reading at a fixed rate per kwh.
Changeover day is flexible, though we aim to keep bookings as close as possible. Departure is by 10am and arrival is from 2pm unless otherwise arranged.
We provide a once weekly linen and bathroom towel change including a clean of the bathrooms. Beach/Pool towels are also supplied.
Will there be provisions at the accommodation upon arrival?
There will be some toilet paper and soap for arrivals and a hamper of beverages, with additional breakfast and snacks are provided for late arrivals.

We require a 30% deposit within one week of confirmation and the balance within 8 weeks prior to arrival.
Bookings taken less than 8 weeks prior to arrival date must be paid in full.
