Perfect for large groups, Quintamar is family friendly. There are four houses which each have an area of 100m2 and 70m2 with 20m2 of terraces plus long sunny and shady patios on ground level, in front of the swimming lake and also the lawns.

The living rooms are spacious and cool, with two large sofas in each, and opening out to a large terrace with seating under the pergola. The rooms are all cool and spacious with marble floors and have ceiling fans.

There are TV with Sky free view channels, DVD and CD players in each of the 4 living rooms. There is free wireless broadband internet service from parts of the property and a pen drive internet access from further parts.

The kitchens are open plan with granite worktops and dining tables. All modern and fitted, with electro - ceramic hob and oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer, toaster, kettle and coffee maker.

On the first floor there are 5 double beds and 3 single beds in 6 bedrooms which lead on to 20m2 terraces overlooking the lake. The ground floors have 4 double beds and 1 single bed in 4 rooms which are each next to the living rooms and a bathroom.

The ground floor houses can all be interconnected internally.
All doors and windows have sliding mosquito nets, blinds or curtains and shutters.

The grounds are open fields with olive and almond trees, bordered by country lanes which lead to the nearby fishing village, river, beach island or town of Tavira. These lanes connect the Green Chain paths, which run parallel with the coast stretching across the length of the Algarve, and are quiet and suitable for bicycles, push prams and walking within 15 minutes to shops, restaurants and the beach access.

The lake is biological and has an area of 400m2. Half is purposely made for swimming and the other half for plants, which oxygenise and clean the water. It is very beautiful and ecological, attracting many kinds of birds and wildlife.

One side of the lake has lawns and wooden decking with sun loungers and sun umbrellas and the other side has pebbles leading to a shady area with a dove and guinea pig house and farm animal enclosure.

A large lawn area for games is on the north of the house near the parking, a sand area with toys and a playground area with a trampoline and a shaded outdoor cooking area.

The houses are comfortable, welcoming, cool and light. Ceiling fans in the living areas and cross ventilation maintain the interiors cool. Fans are also supplied for all bedrooms. All furnishing is bright, modern and comfortable.

For winter sun breaks, wood burning stoves can help make nights cosy: these are contained so that hot air circulates and no smells or smoke can escape. They are very effective and easy to operate, firewood is provided.

The beach Islands of the Ria Formosa are renowned for being peaceful and uncrowded. They extend to 12 km of sandy beaches reached by foot, boat or by little train.

Barril beach is the closest and is accessed either by foot or miniature train or Santa Luzia beach which has a small ferry boat service. Both can be reached within about 15 minutes walk and then 5 to 15 minutes crossing.

Tavira Island has a good selection of restaurants and bars plus a camping ground and is more active in the high season, there is a constant boat service all year round.

There are four golf courses in the area. About 5km away is the newly built Quinta Da Ria and Quinta da Cima golf course which has beautiful courses on the coast.

Faro airport is 35km away. Car hire is optional, and bicycles can easily be rented and are suitable for the terrain and distances. A local reputable car hire service can be arranged to pick up at the airport, please enquire. Bicycle hire can be arranged for pick up and drop off at the property.

Tavira is a 5 minute car drive away and about 30 minutes by foot through quiet country lanes. Santa Luzia fishing village is nearer, about 10 - 15 minutes by foot. Spain is about 25km away and Seville can be reached easily within 2 hours drive.

Tavira is renowned for its 38 historic churches and its four beautiful bridges spanning the Gilao river which divides the town and allows for spectacular riverside views of the medieval town and river life. Numerous cafes and restaurants line the river, public gardens and quiet squares, offering an array of traditional patisseries and fresh fish dishes. The castle walls border the medieval centre of town, encompassing tranquil gardens and a camera obscura. From here scan over the rich tapestry of peaked rooftops to the estuary leading through the mosiac of salt pans and far out into the Atlantic.

The Ria Formosa nature park is rich with wildlife, our lake attracts many types of birds all year round, including Hoopoes, Bee-eaters, Kingfishers, Egrets, Finches, Wagtails, Owls, Stilts, Redstarts, Swallows, Doves, Stonechats, Linnets, Warblers etc. There is also a bird sanctuary closeby.

A deposit of 30% is required at the time of reservation and is non-refundable on cancellations made less than one month before arrival. The balance should be settled up to two months before arrival.
