Tavira Garden is a family-friendly holiday rental complex in Tavira
town. It sits on one of the several small hills in Tavira town and
looks out over the town to the sea. A low density development set
in mature gardens, it boasts two pool areas (each pool has an
adjacent kids pool), a bar/bistro, communal BBQ area, a full
gym, tennis, boules, two kids play areas, etc. The clientele is a
polyglot mixture of English, Irish, Scandinavians, Canadians, and
many other nationalities. Many of the apartments are family
vacation apartments and are often unoccupied – as a result, even in
the high season the facilities are rarely overstressed.
Apartment 19RCB is a two bed, two bath ground floor apartment. It
has a spacious open-plan living/dining area off which there is a
partially enclosed, furnished patio area (with gas BBQ) where you
can dine al fresco either in the sun or in the shade, depending on
the time of year. Facilities include Sat TV (BBC, ITV +B/D/E/F/
Ös/S channels).
One bedroom has a double bed, the other has two single beds – there
is also a double sofa bed in the lounge. A high chair and/or a
travel cot (max 2 years) are available free of charge if requested
when reserving.
The apartment also has access to a large roof terrace with
panoramic views over Tavira town and out across the Atlantic. To

The kitchen is quite large and is comprehensively equipped with top
of the range appliances – 4-plate hob, oven, microwave, coffee-
maker, soup-maker, coffee percolator, dishwasher, etc; you can
cater comfortably for up to six people. There is a full bathroom
(with bath and shower) and a separate shower room – both have WC.
The apartment has its own washing machine and dryer.
The apartment is cleaned and bed-linen and towels changed each 6 to
8 days; an Intermediate service (Bathrooms cleaned, Fresh towels,
Bins emptied) is available as an option. English-speaking staff
are on hand in Reception to deal with any minor emergencies which
may arise and to assist with tours, car rental, etc. The
restaurant area provides live entertainment on a regular basis
during the season. The old town is about a 15 minute walk but it’s
downhill – many people elect to walk there and taxi back at a 2011
cost of approx Euro 4,00.
A car is not essential (and Tavira town is largely pedestrianised)
but you can, for example, rent a car in Tavira towards the end of
your stay to do a little touring and drop it off at the airport,
thereby saving one taxi transfer.
Throughout the season, the local Camara (Town Council) organises a
continuous variety of fairs, exhibitions, street theatre, folk
music and dancing – there is even a film festival and a bikers
rally.
Nearby Tavira Island (a sandbar reached by ferry or water taxi from
the town centre) offers about eight miles of some of the finest
white strands in the Algarve – and the sea water around Tavira is
the warmest anywhere in the Algarve. The island also offers bars,
restaurants, umbrellas, lilos, massage, etc -- and even a remote
naturist strand.

Tavira town is about 35km/30 minutes from Faro airport. We can arrange
a taxi transfer on request at a 2011 cost of Euro 40,00 (Note: 2012 is
likely to be slight higher as the Portuguese government plans to
introduce motorway tolls as part of their austerity measures). Seville
can sometimes be an attractive alternative airport but it's about 2
hours drive to Tavira.
The complex is about 15 minutes walk from the old town centre and taxis
within the urban area cost approx Euro 4,00.

Directions to this holiday apartment in Tavira

Coming from Lisbon/Faro or from Spain/Seville on the A22 motorway,
take the one and only Tavira exit. In the exit, take the N270
direction Tavira. After ~4km come to a roundabout on the N125 (the
ordinary road linking Faro to the Spanish border). Here turn left
(east) on the N125 toward Spain (Espanha), Villa Real do Sto Antonio -
- ignore the Tavira signs. After ~1km you come to a tall bridge over
the River Gilao, another ~1km you come to a second roundabout. Approx
500m after this second roundabout (on the left hand side) is the
entrance to Tavira Garden but you cannot turn left. Continue 500m to
the next roundabout and double back to Tavira Garden (opposite the
entrance is a large garden centre, by the way). A map is included in

If you pick up a taxi at Faro airport, you can assume that the driver
will know Tavira Garden.
Arrival and departure procedures
Changeover day in Tavira Garden is flexible, please enquire.
Check-in time is 16h00 (4pm), departure 10h30 (10:30am). Arrival and
departure can be flexible depending on timing of guests before and after
your stay; at a minimum, you can leave your bags at Reception if you
arrive before the apartment is cleaned. A service charge of GBP 13,00
or Euro 15,00 applies if you arrive after 8pm (20h00)); however, unlike
Spain, local time is the same as in UK (one hour behind France, Germany,
Spain, etc).
