Since the beginning of the century, the sandy beach of the shell shaped bay has attracted tourists. Situated between Peniche and Nazare, Sao Martinho has an easy-going, laid-back atmosphere. It has retained a traditional Portuguese culture and way-of-life and is very popular with people flocking to the resort in the summer.
As it lies in a natural bay its shelter makes it a popular choice for families with sloping white sands into calm, shallow water. Sao Martinho is in fact one of the warmest places to swim on the Gold coast. This is very much a tourist resort that provides many activities to keep you amused.
