Apartment in Tavira Details
A comfortable and spacious top (fourth) floor apartment in a quiet
residential area within 7 minutes walk from the very centre of
Tavira and riverside. Located between the hills and the river with
wonderful views overlooking Tavira, the asseca valley and the sea.
An ideal location for staying in town yet out of earshot from the
busy centre.
An ample south-southeasterly facing terrace for dining and
sunbathing with a birds’ eye view of the Roman town, stretching out
to the coast and far into the rolling hinterland of Tavira.
There is ample parking space outside the building and the
neighbourhood is quiet and safe. Tavira can be reached via a small
lane leading to the old town and also by stairs going down to the
riverside.
The apartment has all home comforts including air conditioning and
satellite television with SKY free view channels, and a DVD player.
A spacious living room with two leather sofas, modern furniture and
sliding patio doors, access the terrace.
The master bedroom is en suite, has air conditioning and also
accesses the terrace. The two other bedrooms both have twin beds,
one has air conditioning and French doors. There is also a bathroom
adjacent to these rooms.
The kitchen is fully equipped, it also has a granite table and
chairs and access to the terrace for dining 'al fresco'. Sun
loungers and sun umbrellas, seating and a table and barbeque are
provided on the terrace.
The apartment is accessed by either stairs or elevator, also wide
enough for wheelchair users.
Four sun loungers deck the terrace and there is a sun umbrella, a
table and chairs available.
This apartment caters well for children. There is a cot and high
chair provided. Please let us know if you have any other
requirements. The lift is a great asset for less mobile people.
Not at all overlooked, there is just one other apartment on the
same floor and there is another block next door but no other
buildings disturb the views over Tavira.
There is a private off road parking place in front of the main
entrance. The neighbourhood is reached by a good tarmac road that
has access to the main road.
The ferry boat taking passengers to Ilha de Tavira can be caught
during the summer season from 10 minutes walk down river. The rest
of the year the ferry crossing is further down river at Quatro
Aguas.
You will discover wonderful golden, sandy beaches, beach bars and
restaurants on an island 10 miles by 1. Sta Luzia village next to
Tavira also has the beautiful beach of Barril, situated in a nature
reserve and reached by a minature train. Within the Algarve there
are over 100 beaches all within an hour to an hour and a half
drive. All you have to do is choose!!
There are excellent golf courses within 5 to 10 minutes drive from
the accommodation. The closest are Benamor, Quinta da Ria and
Quinta da Cima, Monte Rei.
Ashtrays are provided for smoking outside the property.
Due to the possibility of guests being allergic to animal hair, we
would rather not allow pets.
Flexible changeover day, though we aim to keep bookings as close as
possible. Departure is by 10am and arrival is from 2pm unless
otherwise arranged.
We provide a once weekly linen and bathroom towel change including
a clean of the bathrooms. Beach towels are also provided.
There will be some toilet paper and soap for arrivals and a hamper
of beverages, with additional breakfast and snacks are provided for
late arrivals.
Car rental is not at all essential but an advantage for reaching
all the beautiful and interesting places further afield. Car
rental, taxi transfers and bicycle hire can be organized with local
reputable firms in advance or by calling the local representative.
Guests will be met at the apartment. We ensure a prompt and
competent service from a team of property managers, who can be
contacted at anytime.
The nearest airport is Faro which is a 30 minute drive. Jerez da
Fronteira in Spain is also an option, often cheaper than Faro
though a car is necessary for transfer to the property as bus/train
services are complicated.
Tavira is renowned for its 38 historic churches and its 4 beautiful
bridges spanning the Gilao river which divides the town and allows
for spectacular riverside views of the medieval town and river
life. Numerous cafes and restaurants line the river, public gardens
and quiet squares, offering an array of traditional patisseries and
fresh fish dishes. The castle walls border the medieval centre of
town, encompassing tranquil gardens and a camera obscura. From here
scan over the rich tapestry of peaked rooftops to the estuary
leading through the mosaic of salt pans and far out into the
Atlantic.
Quinta da Ria just to the east of Tavira at a place called Fabrica.
There is also the less challenging Benamor course, designed by
Henry Cotton which opened in 2000 on the outskirts of Tavira. The
more famous courses at Villamoura are all a 40 minutes drive away
on the motorway.
