At Monte da Quinta, we aim to provide a very high standard of country living and comfort with traditional architecture and modern facililities. Due to our high standards and attention to detail, we are approved and officially licensed by the Ministry of Tourism in Portugal. Our classification is CASA de CAMPO.

Casa Laranjeira offers luxury accommodation for SIX PERSONS, comprising of a double room, twin room and room with large bunks.

This farmhouse can also be reserved for FOUR PERSONS, comprising of a double room and a twin room. All bedrooms have en suites facilities. DIFFERENT RATES APPLY, please contact us for more details.

This large farmhouse is furnished to a high standard. It has a cool, spacious comfortable lounge and dining area complete with
Wi-Fi, SAT TV, DVD and CD player. A selection of DVDs, books and board games to suite all ages.

KITCHEN A large well equipped kitchen with granite worktops, a hob, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, large wine cooler, kettle, toaster, coffee machine, electric juicer, iron and a ironing board.

BEDROOMS All three bedrooms have en suite facilities, large walk-in showers, WC, hand basin and bidet.

PRIVATE TERRACE Double doors open from the lounge onto a large private covered dining terrace. This terrace is complete with a large circular dining table, cane furniture, a hammock and loungers. A vantage point for the stunning southerly views over miles of un-spoilt Alentejo plains.

EXTRA COMFORT For extra comfort this farmhouse has under floor heating in every room. To keep the farmhouse cool we restored the original dry stone walls which are half meter thick, in addition this house has cooling fans in the bedrooms. This cottage has a piping hot Solar water system.

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
The farmhouse is finished with traditional white washed walls and beautiful brick arches. It has terracotta floors throughout with wooden shuttered windows, vaulted beamed ceilings and an open fireplace. Single storey and built on solid rock, therefore the room levels do vary with one step between some rooms.

Our holiday farmhouses were restored to strict guidelines set by the ministry of tourism Portugal:
These include: mains drainage, mains electric, solar water heaters, no gas appliances and our pool water is regularly tested. All rooms have smoke alarms connected to a central alarm system as well as fire panic buttons and emergency exit signs. Kitchens are fitted with extinguishers and fire blankets.
As a registered business we are licensed operators for tourism and insured for public liability. We are regularly inspected for health and safety. We are on site to assist, manage and maintain the standards at Monte da Quinta.

Monte da Quinta sits conveniently on the edge of the town of Castro Verde. Just a five minute walk takes you into its central streets, with shops, bars and resturantes. Castro Verde is located within the centre of the lower Alentejo region.

NORTH Ninety minutes north is Lisbon the capital city of Portugal.

EAST Sixty minutes east is the beautiful Spanish border.

SOUTH Forty minutes south lies the popular Algarve Region.

WEST Forty minutes west lies the unspoilt Atlantic Coast line.

WHITE LANDS
Although it is characterised by vast and sunny plains, with apparently endless wheat-fields, the Alentejo always offers new landscapes. The plains of Castro Verde, full of thousands of white flowers during spring, are excellent for walks by foot or by bicycle, and then you can fully appreciate the fauna and flora typical of the region’s flat lands.

This vast open space is chosen by white storks to make their nests.
At the Monte das Azinheiras (Holm-oaks Hill) there are more than sixty couples. Bustards, hawks and vultures also prefer the solitude of the golden plains. Some streams create the ideal environment for frogs, salamanders and tortoises. The wild boar prefers the oak-plantations, full or acorns, or scraping the soil in search of truffle.

HISTORICAL TOWNS
To the north are the towns of Beja the capital of the Alentejo province, Evora, Mertola and Lisbon; all beautiful towns and steeped in history. Lisbon, the country’s capital, is approximately a ninety minute drive on a newly built toll-road. Alternatively, it is accessible by train from Garvao, a short distance from Castro Verde. To the south are the towns of Faro, Portimao, Loule, Albufeira, and Tavira. All can be reached by car, bus or rail (to Faro).

FROM THE AIRPORTS
A new toll road (A2) from FARO to LISBON provides an alternative choice of Airport and route to Castro Verde.

50 minutes on the motorway (A2) from FARO Airport (the toll charge is approx. 5 euros).

1.5hrs on the motorway (A2) from LISBON Airport (the toll charge is approx. 15 euros).


The A2 exit is approx 5 kilometers from Castro Verde. Both routes offer spectacular scenery through the Algarve and the Alentejo regions
