garden and pool. Lovingly created, Maison d’Artiste offers inspiration
and charm throughout! This country house and adjoining cottage can
accommodate up to 8 people. Have a totally original holiday experience
at Maison d’Artiste, ideal for relaxing amongst friends or families
with older children.

This multi-level garden with numerous patios and outdoor seating areas
has been created with loving attention. Scented climbing plants cover
pergolas with dining areas, ancient carob trees offer shade over
seating areas, spacious pool decking with dining tables and loungers,
sunny terraces with azure blue walls and floors clad with mosaic
detail… altogether an enchanting garden!

Maison d’Artistes’ unconventional interior integrates natural, flowing
forms with traditional materials, Moroccan influences, rustic and
Asian furnishings and an eclectic collection of ‘objets d’art’.
On arrival in the entrance hall, the domed ceiling with sky lights
interspersing patterns of natural light promises an intriguing
journey!
Following irregular hand-plastered and white washed walls we arrive at
the lengthy kitchen with tadelakt surfaces and a cosy dining table set
beside a huge traditional stove (Jamie Oliver eat your heart out!).
Gaudi-esque patio doors lead through to one of the many charming
terraces, ideal for dining al fresco. Terracotta steps chiseled out of
the rock foundations lead down to a delightful high-ceilinged space,
with room enough to have a ball or have your own cinema viewing with
the projector and screen!

Two double bedrooms are situated on the other side of the hall along
with a beautiful serene bathroom with tadelakt bath tub set within
rocks. Climbing the narrow stairs to the roof terrace you reach a
fairytale tower with the third bedroom comprising a small single bed
and a double bed mezzanine.

The studio house with its charming mosaic courtyard entrance is self-
contained and connects with the main house through the beautifully
designed kitchen terrace. Blending strong Moroccan colours with rustic
furniture, this one double bedroom house with kitchen and bathroom is
inviting and well equipped. The bathroom with its intrinsically mosaic
‘fittings’ is like no other you will find….!

There are eight sun loungers to use around the pool and garden and a
large sun shade over the poolside dining tables. Plenty of other
chairs and tables furnish the garden and terrace areas.

Enjoy the sound of water cascading from the rocks above into a smaller
pool before reaching the main pool, dimensioned at 4 x 9.5m with a
large shallow ledge leading into a depth of 1 metre to a deep end of
1.8m. Freshwater pool with Salt and Chlorine cleaning system. The pool
is serviced twice weekly during summer and once weekly during the rest
of the year by a competent and reliable professional. Pool and garden
lighting is available

We recommend suitability for children from 8 years old upwards as
there are multi levels, some with no railings and steep unlevel steps.

There is a cot and high chair provided for pre-crawling babies. Please
let us know if you have any other requirements.

Due to the unlevel nature of the property we would not recommend
suitability for elderly.

The studio backs onto a neighbouring house, which is out of view.
There are other neighbouring houses outside of the perimeter of the
2000m2 grounds.

Reached easily by tarmac roads and by a 100 metre track leading to the
gated entrance.

Maison d’Artiste is situated within the heart of a quiet, rural area,
with small-hold farms and houses in the near vicinity.

Moncarapacho, 7km away, has some good local shops, cafés and
restaurants and a market with fresh produce, open six mornings a week.
Larger supermarkets are located in Olhão, 10km away.

A selection of beautiful white sand beaches are within easy reach, the
nearest being Olhão and Fuzeta, reached in 15 minutes drive.
Few places in Europe have so many Blue Flag beaches in such a
concentrated area, you can enjoy the boat and miniature train river
crossings, many of which are operational throughout the year.

There are excellent golf courses within 8 to 30 km from the Maison
d’Artiste. The closest is Colina Verde, and further afield are
Benamor, Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima, Monte Rei.

The main indusry of this bustling town,Olhão 15km from Faro and 20km
from Tavira, is the catching and processing of fish.
Beside the river in the centre of Olhão are two large indoor markets
with a delightful array of fresh produce, especially fish brought in
from the port next door.
The warren of narrow streets and flat roofs lend a North African feel
to the old town and the landscape.
Olhão harbor is protected by two islands with superb Atlantic facing
beaches ‘Ilha da Culatra’ and ‘Ilha da Armona’, both reached by
charming ferry rides from the dock near the market place.
The islands are between 10 and 20 minutes boat ride away from the
mainland and house a tiny community of residents but mostly summer
huts and holiday homes.There is a very popular seafood festival during
august with live music and hundreds of different ways to eat shell
fish!

Arrivals are flexible, though we aim to keep bookings as close as
possible. Departure is by 10am and arrival is from 2pm unless
otherwise arranged.
There is a once weekly linen and bathroom towel change.
There will be some toilet paper and soap for arrivals and a hamper of
beverages.
A car is recommended for this property, especially in the heat of
summer…and for reaching all the beautiful and interesting places
further afield. Car rental, taxi transfers and bicycle hire can be
organized with local reputable firms in advance or by calling the
local representative.

Guests will be met at the villa, or otherwise informed where to locate
the key and visited soon after arrival. We ensure a prompt and
competent service from a team of property managers, who can be
contacted at anytime.

Further details:
The main house, sleeping up to 6 people, can be let with or without
the studio, sleeping a further 2 people, which costs 150 euro per week
extra. If only the main house is required, the studio will remain
unoccupied and locked. The studio cannot be let separately.
