The villa is within walking distance of the village and beach of Luz and its elevated position ensures lovely sea views. The village shops and many restaurants are 10 minutes walk downhill and the blue flag beach and palm fringed sea front is 5 minutes more.
The village has a friendly relaxed atmosphere and has a great selection of restaurants serving wonderful fresh fish, meats and local produce including excellent wines!
Local activities include water sports, tennis, golf, riding, cycling and coastal walks. There are two zoos nearby and two water parks and Zoomarine are within easy reach.
The attractive walled town of Lagos, just 6 km away, has an ancient fort, churches and many historic buildings in its lovely narrow paved streets. Lagos has a great selection of shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs. There is a terrific array of fish displayed in the daily Fish Market and the Saturday Farmer's Market offers an amazing selection of fruit, vegetables and crafts produced and sold by traditional country folk.
If you hire a car you can explore the beautiful coastline of the Natural Parque. There are huge craggy cliffs, stunning beaches and little traditional fishing harbours dotted all along the southern coast to Cape St. Vincent and the west coast bashed by Atlantic waves is even more dramatic.
Inland in the mountainous area you can visit ancient towns like Silves with its huge Moorish Castle and the pretty spa town of Monchique from where you have incredible panoramic views of the southern and western coastline.
The climate in the Algarve is near perfect. The summer temperatures rarely go above 32C, tempered by gentle sea breezes. In winter the daytime temperatures can be a very pleasant 18C, but you need the stove for the cooler winter evenings. On average the Algarve has 3,000 hours of sunshine a year!
The Algarve is in the same time zone as U.K. and Ireland, so there is no time change.
