Villa in Estoi Details
Lovely , spacious and cosy property in country side located up the hill
( Road track up the hill is steep, but good one. . If you are only 2 people a small car will do )
between Moncarapacho and Sta. Barbara de Nexe, with magnificent views south towards the coast and not far at all from “Fuzeta” beach.
Estoi the closest and quite town dominated by the church of São Martinho ( dating from the seventh century). The main attraction however is the magnificent palace ( Palácio de Estoi ) which unfortunately is not open to the public , but still well worth a visit just to look at the gardens, statues ( including a replica of Canova´s “Three Graces” in a grotto near the tiled double stairs) and many coloured tiles ( including mosaics from Milreu) . Milreu Roman ruins is a must to visit and I has open access to the site ( including wheelchairs ramps to the major part ). Also well worth a visit is Estoi
Market which is normally held on the second Sunday of each month. There are also a couple of good fish restaurants.
