Villa Description
Monte das Uvas is situated only a short drive
from beaches, golf courses and marinas. It is
set in an orchard of figs, almonds and carobs
at the end of a private lane with a superb view
of the sea. The nearest town is the medieval
market-town of Loule which has portions
remaining of its old town walls. Loule and
Olhao have a colorful fish, fruit and vegetable
market every Saturday morning.
The main house at Monte das Uvas is a
typical manor farm house of the mid-1800s.
Dug into the slope of the hill, it has been a
standing structure of stones, boulders and
earth for over 150 years. Supporting walls are
1 metre thick, providing cool insulation in the
summer. The bread oven building is said to
be the largest private bread oven in the region.
It is our primary home and has been carefully
and tastefully restored. There is a traditional
eucalyptus-beam and bamboo ceiling in the
living/dining area of the house.
The accommodation consists of master
bedroom with oversized cherrywood double
bd. Teak cabinet-enclosed Tv and DVD. Sky
Tv. Adjoining bedroom with single sofa bed,
ensuite WC, bidet and wash basin, louvered
teak wardrobe doors.
Single ensuite bedroom upstairs.
Fully tiled family bathroom with double
sinks, bath tub, shower, bidet, toilet.
Kitchen has electric oven, gas hob, double
sink, marble counters, toaster, coffee grinder.
A second galley-type kitchen area is located
along the back of the house with entry from the
primary kitchen. Gas oven and hob, fridge with
freezer, larders, washing machine and drier,
vacuum and supplies cupboard.
Large combined living/dining/kitchen room
spans north end of the house. Double
stable-type entrance doors. Raised-hearth
log fireplace. Refectory dining table.
Music and Book Room adjoins the living area.
Bookshelf wall, fireplace, quiet reading chair.
Bose 911 stereo, CD, tape-deck.
There is a bricked terrace roof for private sun
bathing. Private swimming pool with a raised deck at one end of the pool with hammocks and a thatched roof for shade. The bamboo area next to it is idyllically tropical.
Double wooden privacy gates separate the driveway from the patio and pool. There is a pool cover for warmer, cleaner water. A tiled sink area is
located beneath the deck at pool level. Teak
chairs and table with canvas umbrella for outdoor eating. Poolside lights for evenings.
Wooden folding seat/picnic table, 2 sunbeds and
a teak deckchair.
The villa is 20 mins from Faro airport and to
the beaches, golf courses and marinas. The
ferry boats at Tavira or Olhao which will take
you to the island beaches.
