Gaby and Keith would love to welcome you to our lovely rural house, set in two and a half hectares of cork woodland. The house offers a peaceful retreat in the heart of the Alentejo countryside, or alternatively it is a base for exploring this captivating region, which has much to offer in terms of historical interest and natural history.
The accommodation comprises three bedrooms, two double and one twin, all en-suite and all with direct access from outside. The rooms have been simply but comfortably furnished in contemporary, rustic style and being North facing, remain comfortably cool, even during the height of the Alentejo summer. There is a small lounge for the use of guests, with books and games and a refrigerator for storing drinks and snacks.
A patio with swimming pool and covered eating area offers a fabulous view towards the Monchique mountains to be enjoyed over breakfast, or an evening glass of wine as the sun sets. We provide a continental breakfast which includes fresh fruit, cereal, rolls,cheese,preserves and home-made cake with tea, fresh coffee and fruit juices.
The area lends itself to a wide range of activities. It is renowned as an excellent region for bird-watching. Walking, horse-riding, fishing and painting are also popular.You may like to visit one of the region's vineyards to sample the local wines. For eating out and sampling the local cuisine there are several reasonably priced restaurants nearby. The Algarve coast, with its wide choice of beaches, shops and excellent restaurants is only 40 minutes away, while approximately 1 hour's drive will find you on the West Coast with its rugged scenery and many quiet beaches. Alternatively,you may wish to take a leisurely stroll down through the cork woods and find a quiet spot to read, or simply reflect. You will soon find yourself feeling thoroughly relaxed, as the stresses and strains of your daily life are quickly forgotten.
Despite its rural location, Lagoa Seca is easily accessible both from the Algarve and from Lisbon. Your travelling time from Faro airport would be 70 minutes and from Lisbon, 2 hours.
